As attacks on civilians and on the security forces by jihadist groups in Burkina Faso accelerate and grow ever more violent, the number of internally displaced people in Burkina Faso keeps growing. More than 1.3 million Burkinabe have been forced to leave their native land in a little over two years, and 6% of the population of Burkina Faso is now displaced within the country, according to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR).
Today 1 person in 20 in Burkina Faso has been displaced by the humanitarian crisis.
These newly displaced people are in desperate need of shelter, food, water, protection and healthcare, in the middle of a global health crisis. That is why HAMAP-Humanitaire is launching an appeal for donations. For lack of mosquito nets, the men, women and children living in the refugee camps near Ouagadougou are more exposed to malaria.
Working with the local association Osez Ensemble BURKINA, HAMAP-Humanitaire supports the people of two internally displaced persons camps around the capital, some 1,200 people, mostly women and children.
