Looking back on a successful mission in Laos and India

From 18 to 28 June, a field mission made it possible to measure in concrete terms the progress achieved in two regions where access to drinking water and sanitation facilities remains a daily challenge.

Laos: a project launch that brought people together

Collective momentum in the field

The trip first took the team to Laos, where the official launch of a project in three villages in Vientiane province brought together:

• Local authorities
• Partner NGOs
• Residents of the villages concerned

The meeting confirmed strong mobilisation and a shared determination to involve communities directly in building and managing the facilities.

India: concrete and lasting results

A project in its final phase

In India, the team saw that an ambitious project across 14 villages and informal settlements in Tamil Nadu was 90% complete.

• 7 drinking water points installed
• 2 workshops producing feminine hygiene products
• More than 250 family toilets in service

The central role of women

Women play an essential part in the success of the project:

• Managing the water points
• Leading the monitoring committees
• Producing washable sanitary pads
