The 5th French-Palestinian decentralised cooperation conference was held from 7 to 9 May 2023 in Ramallah, Palestine.

HAMAP-Humanitaire took part in this conference, which serves to feed and energise the projects run between French and Palestinian local authorities. Strongly political in nature, it is also an opportunity to look to the future, in a context marked by growing tensions and clashes.

HAMAP-Humanitaire works with five towns in the Palestinian territories on water and sanitation issues, together with its French partners such as the AFD, the Eau du Bassin Rennais authority, the Aude department and the Occitanie region. This was an opportunity to review the projects with the representatives present and with the mayors of Ramallah, Beitunia, Tubas and Jalboun. HAMAP's President and Director General visited several sites, including the Ramallah treatment plant, which treats wastewater and allows the water to be reused for urban development purposes. A good way to measure the impact of these initiatives on the daily lives of these isolated communities.
