From 27 June to 5 July 2022, HAMAP-Humanitaire travelled to India for the water and sanitation project in several villages in southern India, in the state of Tamil Nadu. The project aims to improve local people's living conditions through better access to water, sanitation and hygiene.
The aims of the mission were the final evaluation before the project closes and the preparation of a possible new water access project involving the construction of standpipes and the renovation and construction of toilets.
The local partner on the ground is the NGO IRDRP (Institute of Research and Development for the Rural Poor), created in 1988 to help women living with AIDS. The NGO gradually grew and began working on training but also on building housing, toilets and standpipes.
The purpose of the mission was to visit the various villages where HAMAP-Humanitaire has worked. In all, HAMAP-Humanitaire has:
- Built 50 toilets in the villages of Dharkast, Melathur and Aadhanur
- Repaired 50 toilets in the villages of Dharkast, Nangathur and Melathur
- Built 3 water fountains in the villages of Aadhanur, Nangathur and Komendhu

The project officers visited these villages, where they were able to meet the beneficiaries and talk with them about their new facilities.
Finally, they visited new villages where HAMAP-Humanitaire could potentially work with the help of IRDRP.
