Since 2015, together with our local partner Prime Trust, we have been running a project to set up a social shop in Pondicherry.
The project involves creating a space where women who have received a microcredit can sell the crafts they make, giving them a regular income.
The first part of the project involved selecting the women who would benefit and identifying the products to be sold. 32 women were selected for the project. They then took a course in managing their budget.
The second phase of the project is the fitting out of the premises identified on Rainbow Nagar Main Road in Pondicherry. This work is under way and will be finished shortly.
