HAMAP-Humanitaire took part in a monitoring mission for the project to improve sanitation conditions in the Municipality of Ramallah, carried out under the decentralised cooperation led by the City and Metropolitan Authority of Toulouse.
The mission was able to confirm the correct installation and use of two new centrifuges and of in-house laboratory equipment at the Al Tireh treatment plant.
This equipment will allow Ramallah to make a qualitative leap in treating its wastewater and sewage sludge. The ultimate aim is to develop the reuse of treated water in the city and to make it possible to reuse the sludge as agricultural spread.
The mission also reviewed the training carried out in Ramallah to help the operating and management teams commission and handle this new equipment.
Finally, a study of agronomic, health, social and economic conditions is under way, in order to propose recommendations for trialling the reuse of sludge for agricultural purposes in Ramallah.
This project is led by the City and Metropolitan Authority of Toulouse with the Municipality of Ramallah. It benefits from project management support by HAMAP-Humanitaire and OIEau, and from the financial support of the French Development Agency, the Adour-Garonne Water Agency and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
