Carried out with the Ministry of Health, the provincial health departments and local structures, this mission aimed to improve access to health care for the Malagasy population by providing the help and expertise of French volunteers. The work took the following form: medical consultations, donations of the medicines prescribed, and nursing care where needed.
During this mission, volunteer health professionals (doctors, pharmacists, a nurse) and 5 non-medical volunteers took part
923 patients were seen, at the following locations:
– Antranokarani,
– Ambanja (hospital and prison),
– Ambalahoko,
– Amkigameloko and Ankatafa.
We met a large group of sex workers in Ambanja, who asked that we keep up our medical help.
Ambanja prison was a high point: 120 detainees, including children and women, were seen. Here too, they hope our work will continue.
During this mission a very large distribution of donations took place; the volunteers brought around 300 kg of hygiene products and clothing. Training and education sessions were also organised.
This mission was carried out effectively thanks to the involvement of our team of interpreters and of everyone who gave us their support.
