HAMAP-Humanitaire took part in the Local Water Management Forum in Rennes on 25 January 2023. HAMAP-Humanitaire and its partners led a session on water, sanitation and hygiene projects in Cambodia and Laos. HAMAP-Humanitaire presented, for example, its project in a priority municipality identified by the local authorities in the Stung Sen basin at Putrea in Cambodia.
The overall aim of this project is to improve access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene in the municipality. It also aims to set up a drinking water supply body, drill a borehole, and build a water tower with a collective network including standpipes and household connections. At the end of the project, HAMAP-Humanitaire and its partners want to put in place awareness raising among residents on hygiene and water use, and a municipal water management committee. The project is co-funded by Brest Metropole and the Rhin-Meuse and Loire-Bretagne water agencies.
The Local Water Management Forum was also an opportunity for HAMAP-Humanitaire to meet and talk with its partners about water and sanitation projects in Laos, and more particularly in 3 priority villages in the Nam Ngum basin.
These two projects complement the institutional cooperation work put in place by the Rhin-Meuse and Loire-Bretagne water agencies, supported by OIEau.
