Why humanitarian demining
Anti-personnel mines and explosive remnants of war go on killing and maiming civilians decades after the fighting ends. Humanitarian demining frees land so that people can return, farming can resume and schools and infrastructure can be rebuilt.
Our method: training so the work lasts
HAMAP-Humanitaire does not deploy its own deminers. We train local teams, women and men, who take charge of operations over the long term. This approach ensures that the know-how takes root in the countries concerned and that local partners become self-reliant.
