HAMAP-Humanitaire at work in Senegal!

Between 13 and 22 February 2023, our water and sanitation project officer travelled to Senegal to meet the actors involved in the project to extend the water network in the village of Louly Ngogom, in the municipality of Sandiara. The mission was also an opportunity to visit the villages of Bondji, in the municipality of Bokiladji, Matam region, to meet the actors needed to put together a project to create a water network, and to train and inform the beneficiaries.

The aim of this first project will be to improve and extend the drinking water supply to the locality of Louly Ngogom and its surroundings by connecting it to the Notto Diosmone Palmarin network. The goal is to give 900 villagers sufficient and safe access to drinking water.

Awareness activities were also held at the school in Louly Ngogom to present the social issues linked to access to water in schools. This awareness day covered handwashing and hygiene at school, offering an integrated solution attentive to gender and to the school environment, for the benefit of pupils and teachers. The mission also aimed to accompany the visit of the delegation led by Ms Carole Delga, president of the Occitanie region and funder of the Louly Ngogom project, and Mr Jean-Marc Bergia, vice-president of SIVOM SAGE, a partner of the municipality of Sandiara.
