Support for the Municipality of Antoura to Improve On-Site Wastewater Treatment in the City

The project

THE CONTEXT

The municipality of Antoura is a small town (4,000 residents) located in the Keserouan region (Mount Lebanon). Each home has an old, poorly maintained septic tank, the contents of which regularly spill—either accidentally or illegally—onto the streets and into gardens.

The decentralized cooperation initiative between the municipality of Antoura and the municipalities of Noisy -le-Roi and Bailly—joined by the water and sanitation agency Hydreaulys—aims to support Antoura’s efforts to implement a local solution that would address the current lack of prospects for a collective sanitation system and improve the quality of surface and groundwater. The partners have requested HAMAP-Humanitaire’s support to serve as a project management assistant and help achieve the objectives of the decentralized cooperation initiative during the 2025–2028 period.
