Improving access to water, hygiene and sanitation in the Nassouroulahi neighbourhood, Vélingara
The project
THE CONTEXT
The project is part of the partnership between HAMAP-Humanitaire, the association APIT Huma Dev and the commune of Vélingara. It addresses access to water, sanitation and food security in the Nassouroulahi neighbourhood, which is particularly vulnerable to flooding, waterborne disease and economic hardship.
The project takes an integrated approach, combining better water and sanitation infrastructure, stronger local governance and the development of family market gardening.

People in the neighbourhood who never used to speak to each other now have ties, with meetings every Tuesday thanks to the neighbourhood committees. When there is no meeting, they talk on WhatsApp. The project has really brought the neighbourhood together. Every Sunday, there is a clean-up in the different parts of the neighbourhood.
