Extending the water network in the rural commune of Sola
The project
THE CONTEXT
Begun more than five years ago, the international cooperation between the Syndicat des Eaux du Centre-Ouest (SECO) and the Fondation des Amis du Père Mwishabongo Mukwanga Norbert (FAPMMN), supported by HAMAP-Humanitaire, has made it possible to improve access to drinking water in a remote area of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
This French and Congolese partnership was also made possible by the financial support of several French institutions, including the essential contribution of the Loire Bretagne water agency.

AIMS AND ACTIVITIES
Objectives
- Extend the water network of the rural commune of Sola to supply three villages and the hospital.
Main activities
- Works and construction : A second rising main laid, the network extended by 3 km, 8 standpipes and 8 administrative connections created, including school facilities.
- Management support : Training of the management committee.
- Awareness raising : Awareness raising among users on sound practices and on running the service.
