Conseil départemental de l’Aude – Jalboun cooperation
The project
THE CONTEXT
Jalboun is a village in the north-east of the West Bank, immediately next to the separation wall and to Israel. It is one of the last villages in Palestine with no drinking water distribution system for its inhabitants, who rely on tanker trucks for their supply.
Most of the network and structures are being built by the Palestinian Authority and the World Bank. French cooperation complements this work by supporting the municipal council of Jalboun: the aim is to create, equip, train and structure a municipal water department able to manage the network over the long term and deliver a quality service to the population. Developing household sanitation in the village extends and completes the cooperation led by the Conseil départemental de l’Aude, with support from HAMAP-Humanitaire.

Objectives
- Sustainably improve access to drinking water and sanitation in Jalboun

- Municipal water department : Creation and training of a municipal water and sanitation department.
- Equipment : Supply of equipment for interventions and maintenance on the networks.
- Water network : Extension of the water network and household connections.
- Sanitation : Installation of individual household sanitation facilities.
