Access to water, sanitation and hygiene in the communes of Tang Krasov and Reaksa
The project
THE CONTEXT
Water and sanitation remain key issues for development in Cambodia. Since 2012, the Rhin-Meuse and Loire-Bretagne water agencies have supported the Tonlé Sap lake authorities in promoting integrated water resources management in the Stung Sen river basin.
HAMAP-Humanitaire contributes to that goal with a series of water and sanitation projects in the basin's priority villages. This project sets up a drinking water supply system and stronger sanitation facilities in the villages of Reaksa and Tang Krasov, which currently have none.
It is part of a wider, coordinated programme of water management and governance across the whole Stung Sen basin, run in close cooperation with many French and Cambodian actors.

AIMS AND ACTIVITIES
Objectives
- Improve access to drinking water and sanitation facilities and support good hygiene practices
Main activities
- Drinking water supply : A drinking water supply system built in Tang Krasov commune: boreholes, reservoir, networks and connections.
- Extension in Reaksa : Extension of the existing water network in Reaksa commune.
- Management committee : A water management committee set up and trained.
- Awareness raising : Awareness raising on hygiene and the proper use of water, particularly in schools.
- Latrines : 150 latrines built for priority families.
