Access to water and sanitation in the district of N’Dantawi
The project
THE CONTEXT
Although Guinea is considered the water tower of Africa, access to safe drinking water remains a challenge. In rural areas, most people walk several kilometres to draw water from boreholes built by individuals or NGOs. Where no such facility exists, they fall back on traditional wells, with the health problems that follow.
After a project in the neighbouring region, the ADTTF, approached by local stakeholders, sought to strengthen access to water and sanitation in N'Dantawi, an outlying district of the commune of Mali, in the Labé region.

AIMS AND ACTIVITIES
Objectives
- Provide lasting access to water and sanitation in the district of N'Dantawi, commune of Mali.
Main activities
- Works and infrastructure : A borehole with a solar pumping system, a 50 m³ water tower, 5 km of network, 50 household connections and 4 standpipes, and sanitation blocks.
- Management support : Creation and training of the water service management unit.
- Awareness raising : Awareness sessions on paying for water and on sound hygiene and water management practices.
