The project

THE CONTEXT

Launched in 2024 in the face of the escalating conflict, this project set out to respond to the crisis while preparing the very first transition of Lebanese local actors to autonomous demining operations. The project had to show great agility, switching from a conventional approach to Conflict Preparedness and Protection (CPP) activities during the mass displacements of autumn 2024.

More than 32,390 people: 13,390 beneficiaries of conventional EORE (82% of them children) and more than 19,000 beneficiaries of emergency EORE

Nearly 1.6 million people (1,596,674) reached by the digital and SMS campaign, against an initial target of 39,000

WHAT WE DO

Activity 01

Risk education (EORE / CPP)

Deployment of 8 community liaison officers (50% women) in schools and shelters

Activity 02

Innovative mass campaign

400,000 targeted SMS messages, road signs installed at checkpoints and social media campaigns with the University of Balamand

Activity 03

Non-Technical Surveys (NTS)

166 surveys carried out, including a new emergency rubble survey format to map damaged buildings quickly

Activity 04

Capacity building and accreditation

24 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) validated and the first local clearance teams (DCB), 43% of them women, trained by ERDHL
