EXTENSION OF THE DRINKING WATER NETWORK IN THE RURAL COMMUNE OF SOLA
Commune of SOLA, PROVINCE OF TANGANYIKA, DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO
With the support of several financial partners, HAMAP- Humanitaire, in collaboration with the FAPMMN Foundation, has set up a drinking water supply system in the isolated rural commune of Sola in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
To date, the network includes :
Protection and catchment of a water source.
A reservoir with settling tank A 55m3 water tower 3 km of network (PEHD63).
6 standpipes and 5 administrative connections.
In addition to the construction of these facilities, the population was made aware of good hygiene and water management practices, and several management committees were set up to monitor the service. Buoyed by the success of this project, the FAPMMN Foundation has once again approached HAMAP-Humanitaire to extend the network already in place and enable as many people as possible to benefit from easier access to water.
Project Objective
Improving access to and management of drinking water services in the commune of Sola, DRC
- Laying of a second delivery pipe
- Extension of the water network by around 3km (Grand Sola and Kasanga II)
- Creation of 8 standpipes and 8 private connections
- Training of management committees
- Organization of awareness-raising sessions
- 7500 people including 1845 students
- 18 months
