The project to improve access to water and sanitation in the municipalities of Reaksa and Tang Krasov, in Cambodia, is ready to be inaugurated!<\/strong><\/p>\n

In partnership with RainWater Cambodia, the project aims to commission a drinking water supply system (from the solar-powered borehole to household connections, taking in the water tower, the treatment unit and the gravity-fed HDPE network) for the 2,200 residents of the municipality of Tang Krasov. A water management committee has also been created and trained to manage the system and make it last, working with the Cambodian local and national authorities. 86 households, around 430 people, have already registered for a household connection and so for safe, monitored water at an affordable cost, which will fund the upkeep and maintenance of the works over the long term. The system is due to be filled at the end of the month; the connection campaigns will continue, as will the support and training of the village management committee.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

At Reaksa, an 800-metre extension of the existing water network has been built to reach the village of Samrong, which had no water infrastructure at all. 25 new households, around 125 people, have been able to connect to the collective network and secure their supply of good-quality water.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

In both municipalities, a programme to build 150 family latrines is under way, alongside awareness sessions on good water, sanitation and hygiene practice in the schools and villages of the 2 municipalities.<\/p>\n

This programme of activities aims to reduce open defecation and to improve hygiene and health conditions in homes and in public spaces, while protecting the environment, particularly soils and groundwater.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

The project is part of the institutional and political cooperation led by the Rhin-Meuse and Loire-Bretagne water agencies with the Tonle Sap Authority, the agency responsible for implementing integrated water resource management around the lake, and in particular in the Stung Sen basin, one of its tributaries. It benefits from the financial support of theRhin-Meuse Water Agency<\/a> and of Toulouse Metropole<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
